I had my bike to where it would start first time everytime about a week back, then it just quit starting at all. I removed and cleaned out the carb, jets etc. Checked for spark, everything was good. I have got it to the poitn now where it starts, it will idle all day long but as soon as u apply throttle it will cut out. The only way to get it started again is to take the spark plug out, cleanit up and put it back in, it will start first time but will pull the same stuff.

It seems when i take it out, its covered in gas, but also has black deposits on, i am not sure if its oil or carbon. The spark plug is brand new. I was thinking the air/fuel mixture is off and its running rich or something. Am i close or do yall have any other ideas?

maybe have the choke adjusted?? the only thing i hated about our blast was that "auto" choke. i dont know if you can do that for yourself, i had to have the shop do it, as i am not a grease monkey myself.

that makes sense. it seems to be totally flooded out with gas. Just as a rough estimate of cost, how much was yours to repair when u took it to a shop?

you def. have a fuel flooding issue. check the seat on the float and the float spring level to make sure its stoping in the coerrect position. also make sure the main jet needle is not bent or worn. if it is you will get a flooding out bike. if you have a motorcycle or carb rebuilding book reread it disassembel the carb and reinstall each part one at a time to the speck it calls for. my old kawasaki was a pain to get right. either i would get the float off or too big of a main jet with my needle jet too high and flood it out. after i got all that fixed. my darm coil was weak and i had to re do it all again with a new coil installed. it took two weekends to finally get it right. you will have to do the settings with the air cleaner on the bike or it will not work. thats my .02cents

i took my carb off the oher day, was a wee bit of gas in it, and a lil carbon, cleaned out the jets, the float and the needle. Think i got the needle seat back in right. Will take it off again anyhoo to check the auto choke is clean and free, gets kinda sticky with gas and carbon in there, never realyl thought to take it off and examine it, doh!

well....it turned out to be a really stupid mistake on someones part and i overlooked it twice cos i thought it was the norm. The reason it was flooding is because the main jet needle was sat on top or the spring seat, not under it where it should of been. That being done, the needle didnt even touch the float in the bottom of the carb, letting oodles of gas into the egine and flooding it. I put the needle under the spring seat, cranked it up, no more issues..... doh!
